• Founded in 1996, Excelsis have always stood for the finest Helvetic Folk Metal. Back when Pagan Metal hadn’t even been thought of, they already incorporated flutes and bagpipes into their songs.

    • Excelsis won the Rock Hard band contest during the Iron Savior „Atlantis Falling“ Tour in 1988. This in turn assured them further exposure by allowing them to showcase their musical prowess on the Iron Savior album “Unification” and led to them being nicknamed the “Swiss Dragonslayers” for the first time.

    • More than 4000 sold copies of their album „Kurt of Koppigen“ in Germany alone.

    • Concerts at home as well as abroad, including such prestigious festivals as Metalcamp (SL), End of Dayz Festival (CH) and Knight of the Cross Festival (IT).

    • The Dragonslayers have supported such well known acts Eluveitie, In Extremo, Haggard, Korpiklaani, Finntroll and many more.

    • Now, years later and following their previous 6 albums which all but one, their first, were based on historical events in Switzerland, their 7th album is about to be unleashed on an unsuspecting public. Besides the afore-mentioned flutes and bagpipes, the album also features violin, shargia, accordion, mouth harp (played by former vice world champion Marco Bandera) as well as more traditional instruments such as “Talerschwinge” (rolling coins around a bowl) and “Bäsechlopfe” (broom stick playing). Thundering drums, axe wielding guitar riffs, atmospheric keyboards and a we-take-no-prisoner vocal approach with part of the lyrics sung in the local Swiss-German language will propel the listener into unknown spheres.

    • The album “vo Chrieger u Drache” was mixed and mastered by Christoph Brandes at Iguana Studios, Germany (Necrophagist, Finsterforst, Unlight amongst others).
